Compare SunSetter® to the Alternatives |
Until now, if you wanted protection on your deck or patio, you had only limited choices. You could go with a patio umbrella -- but anyone who has used one will tell you that's a real compromise. You have to keep adjusting the umbrella as the sun moves and it really doesn't offer you a very large protected area.
An umbrella seldom keeps everyone dry during a shower. It's also tippy in a breeze. And have you priced one lately? They're either so cheaply made you won't want one, or else they cost a fortune for what you get.
"I purchased two of your awning systems. . . (18 ft. and 14 ft.) for the south-facing elevations of my house to go over two decks. With the help of my dad, I was able to complete the installation of both awnings in a morning and began to enjoy my shaded decks immediately...Another product I priced would have cost me $4,900 for the larger deck and $3,600 for the smaller one - $8,500 for shade!...I can't think of any other do-it-yourself product that provides so much to the homeowner for such a small investment"

What about a custom-made awning? Here's a hint: Hold on tight to your
checkbook! (Don't forget installation costs.) Also, be sure to ask your
salesman whether the custom awning retracts. (Most don't -- which means you
probably have to take them down in the winter, store them, and reinstall
them in the spring.)
Ask him whether the awning is completely waterproof and
mildew resistant, like the SunSetter®, or whether it's easy to keep clean. You may find there's considerable work involved with a custom awning.
Finally, a fixed roof will certainly protect you in most conditions, but if you want to enjoy the sun, forget it! A fixed roof isn't a morning's easy do-it-yourself installation -- and the cost of a fixed roof can be 6-10
times the price of a SunSetter®.
